From April 23th to April 25th, 2025, the delegation of the South China Sea Strategic Situation Probing Initiative (SCSPI), headed by Professor Hu Bo, visited Indonesia to held in-depth exchanges with various Indonesian circles and the ASEAN General Secretariat on issues such as the current situation in the South China Sea, management of maritime disputes, Code of Conduct (COC), and China-Indonesia maritime joint development cooperation.
On the morning of April 23, the delegation attended a discussion with the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at University of Indonesia (FISIP UI). Prof. Evi Fitriani from the Department of International Relations at the University of Indonesia and other scholars participated in the discussion.

On the afternoon, the delegation visited the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), and engaged in discussion with Amb. Nadjib Riphat Kesoema and Amb. Iwan Wiranataatmadja, senior fellows and Former Indonesian Ambassadors, including as well as scholars from the Indonesian Sinology Forum (FSI) and the Center of Southeast Asia Studies (CSEAS).

On the morning of April 24, the delegation visited the ASEAN General Secretariat and met with Garry Ibrahim, Director of the ASEAN Political and Security Directorate, and other officials, and exchanged views on the current regional situation and the COC consultations.

On the afternoon, the delegation attended the SCSPI-CSIS Roundtable Discussion. Over 20 Indonesian scholars and officials participated, including Jusuf Wanandi, Co-Founder and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees CSIS Foundation, Hassan Wirajuda, Former Indonesian Foreign Minister and Member of the Board of Trustees CSIS Foundation, Rear Admiral Didong Rio Duta Purwokuntjoro, Deputy for Policy and Strategy of the Indonesian Maritime Security (Bakamla), First Admiral Askari, Director for Cooperation of Bakamla, and several CSIS researchers. Representatives from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Oceans Justice Initiative (IOJI), and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) also attended. The two sides had an active discussion on regional security, the situation in the South China Sea, COC consultations, and China-Indonesia relations.
